Katie Causes a Stir in Wigan
Posted by Janis | Under Katie Price Books Tuesday Aug 19, 2008At the Grand Arcade’s Waterstone’s book store in a Wigan shopping centre, fans queued as early as 6:30am to see their favourite authoress, even though she wasn’t scheduled to arrive until 4:30pm. Which award winning author could possibly cause such a stir? None, actually. But Katie Price was there.
Katie spent the afternoon autographing copies of her new book, Angel Uncovered, for fans who had waited as long as ten hours for the pleasure. Her latest book is the next in the serial story of the ever compelling character Angel Summer. Hundreds of celebrity-dazzeled shoppers turned out for the occasion, while the former page-three girl formerly known as Jordan signed over 400 copies of her latest book for delighted customers.
And Katie made sure no one left unsatisfied. John Sanson, the manager of Grand Arcade centre, said:
“It was a big surprise to us and we didn’t expect quite that number of people. It was absolutely amazing. We had people here waiting when we opened the centre at 7am. She got here slightly late but she stayed until about 6.30pm, which was way over what she was supposed to do. We were extremely pleased and it was an excellent day. It was a good thing for Wigan too – she didn’t go to Manchester or Liverpool but she came here. She was a very nice lady too – not at all like a prima donna. She was really interested in talking to people and seemed like she would have liked more time.”
Ah yes, a good thing for Wigan.
Waterstone’s assistant manager Rachel Simm was also happy for Wigan, saying:
“I think it’s fair to say Katie Price fever definitely hit Wigan on Thursday. She saw about 650 of her fans. It was probably one of the biggest things to hit Wigan in recent times. It was an incredible success. Katie and her management were all very happy with how it went.”
Good old Wigan thanks you, Ms Price.
